Snooker has always been viewed as a men's sport, with women players being considered inferior. However, with the recent success stories of Asian female players, women's snooker has a bright future.

The first women's ranking event in Australia was held in 2019. Nutcharut Wongharuthai won it. She is believed to have been the first woman to break 147. She was born in 1999 and is eligible to play on the next season of the World Snooker Tour.

Another Asian lady snooker player is Chitra Krishnamurthy. She was the first Indian woman ever to win the Australian Open Snooker Championship 2008. She also won the 2011 six-red snooker championship. Her debut appearance in 2014 at the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships marked her second appearance. She has also reached finals in the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships.

Reanne Evans is the number one female snooker player in the world. She holds ten world titles and is currently the reigning champion. In addition, she was invited to compete on the men’s tour during the 2010/11 season as a wildcard. She was also given an MBE in recognition of her services to snooker.


Reanne Evans was born in Dudley, West Midlands. Reanne Evans started playing pool when she was 14 years old and has been a professional player of snooker ever since. She has won eight billiards and ball pool titles, in addition to snooker. She is currently the holder of the World Pool Championship title. She is also the European Masters champion and the most popular female player in the UK.

Evans was seven-and-a-half months pregnant when she won the ladies' world title in 2006. She was also the first woman to make it to the main stages of a ranking tournament. She qualified for China's Wuxi Classic, where she defeated Thailand's Thepchaiya UN-Nooh 5-4.

Evans has been the world number 1 for the past 10 years. She has been awarded ten world titles, and an MBE for her contributions to snooker. She was also invited to the professional tour as a wildcard for the 2010/11 season. She will be competing in the UK's final stages of the World Ranking Event. She will be taking on world number 2 Neil Robertson in round 1.

Reanne McIlroy (Reanne Evans), Emma Bonney, Kelly Fisher, and Reanne Evans are just a few of the great female players around. They are all former world number ones, and are some of the greatest snooker players of all time. According to the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), there are no barriers for women in snooker. Currently, only two women are ranked in the top 30 of the men's world rankings. The future of women's snooker is bright if they can challenge the best players in the world.
