Having only started a couple of years ago, billiards enthusiast Ralph Greenleaf has already become one of the country's best players. He has already taken part in some three cushion billiards tournaments and has placed in the top 10 at the national 3-cushion billiards tournament in Illinois last month. He also regularly visits the Twin Cities' local billiards clubs every month.
Nguyen Quyet Nguyen and Tran Quyetchien are two of Vietnam's most highly-ranked billiards players. Both of them are ranked among the top 10 in the world. Both players are currently ranked within the top eight. Tran Quyetchien is ranked number seven. Both players are the tournament's current champions. Ngo Dinh Nai is ranked 29. Jeremy Bury of France is ranked 18
The next tournament that will be held in Vietnam is the 3-Cushion Carom Billiards Continental Cup which will be held December 20-22 at Seoul. The tournament will feature eight top Vietnamese players. The total prize money will be about 160,000 USD. The tournament will not be the only event. There will also be other events throughout each year.
The United States Billiard Association, (USBA), is the official governing organization for carom and billiards. The National Championship is one of the many events held each year by the USBA. The USA will be represented at the Pan-American Championship by the top two National Championship players.
The three Madison 3-Cushion Cushion Billiards Club tournaments were extremely competitive and highly contested. The tournament featured two flights with six players each. The tournament was handicapped. Therefore, the semi finals were won by the five best players in each flight. The top 12 participants will receive $7,000. Bruce Venzke was the tournament director and was sponsored by First Business Bank of Madison. He is a legend in cue games.
The tournament was sponsored by the UMB (Union of Billiards and Carom Billiards), which is the official governing body for 3-cushion billiards in the world. UMB also hosts recurring tournaments throughout the year. A number of upcoming events will be displayed on the UMB Turnier Schedule.
This tournament was held on the southern province of Binh Duong. The tournament featured eight teams that battled over three days. The top two teams advance to the semi-finals, while the third and fourth teams will advance to the quarterfinals. The final round will be single elimination. The Las Vegas World Cup 3-cushion Billiobilliards Tournament winner will receive a cash award of $20,000. This is the first time Vietnamese representatives have been to the semi-finals.
The 3-Cushion Billiards Tournament is a relatively new game, but has already grown in popularity in many parts of the world. It is also featured in the animated Disney short film Donald from Mathmagic. It was also featured the 2007 Goya Award-winning Spanish Film Seven Billiard Tables.
