The official rankings for professional snooker players are known as the world snooker ranks. They decide who qualifies for World Snooker Tour tournaments. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association maintains the rankings. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association provides useful statistics on the sport, as well as providing players with an idea how they rank.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump is among the top ten in world snooker rankings. He is known for his amazing breaks and his dominance of the sport. He has won 23 ranking titles, including the world championship. He is only 33 and still very young. However, he has the potential of staying at the top of the sport at least for another decade. His age and the grind of the tour could wear him down.

Mark Selby

Mark Selby, an Englishman is one of world's best players. He is a former England under-15 champion and a recent World Snooker Championship Champion. He also has a strong background in pool. He was the 2006 WEPF Eight-Ball Pool Champion and a finalist in 2015's Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby is originally from Leicester in England. Malcolm Thorne was his coach, the brother of Willie Thorne.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan spent 280 weeks at top of world snooker rankings. His latest move took him ahead of Mark Selby in the rankings after reaching the semi-finals of the Tour Championship. The Scot was first ranked number one on the world stage in May 2002. He has since claimed 31 ranking titles. Six World Championship titles, five UK Championships are just a few of his accomplishments.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is the current number 10, and one of the top snooker players worldwide. In 1995, the Welshman broke into the top snooker players in the world when he won the Benson & Hedges Masters. He made a respotted in the final to win the title. He also won three ranking tournaments in 1998, becoming the fourth player to win three titles in a single season.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott was awarded two ranking titles. In 2010, he reached the final of China Open. However, his form has been inconsistent since then. He has openly discussed his struggle with depression. The Australian has a poor ranking in the world rankings of snooker, but he has a great record at home.

Dott's career

Graeme Dott, a professional snooker player since 1994 has steadily climbed up the ranks. He was ranked in the top sixteen for 2001 and stayed there through 2009. He reached quarter-finals in the Welsh Open 1996 and 1997. He was second in the 1999 Scottish Open, and third in the 2001 British Open. He was also second in the 2004 World Championship, and the 2005 Malta Cup. In 1999, he made his first competitive break of 147 at the British Open.

Dott's ranking

Dott has had a fluctuating ranking in world snooker rankings over the years. He has been in the top 16 on six occasions. He was ranked second in 2007/8 season. Dott's ranking has dropped since then.

Mark Williams' ranking

Mark Williams' ranking in world snooker has steadily risen over recent years. He has won a variety of tournaments including the Players Championship Grand Finals 2000. He also defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final. He has also topped the world rankings on several occasions. His biggest ranking victory came in 2001 against Anthony Hamilton at the China Open.
