One of the most popular games in the world is pool. You can play on different sized tables. However, it is also a game that requires a high level of skill. There are many varieties of pool. Most popular are eight ball and continuous pool. These games require a high level skill and can also be played in a singles, doubles, or team sport.

The game's goal is to put all the designated balls. This includes cue balls, eight-balls and other object ball. Each player receives one of two pockets at each end of the table. They go on until they make a mistake or foul. If a foul is committed, the player must put the ball back on and take a new shot. A variety of fouls can occur including a break, hitting the cueball into an object ball, committing an unlawful break, or executing a jump shot.

The World Standardized Rules is the official pool rules. They are used at many international tournaments as well as in the Billiard Council of America. If a foul is committed the ball that was taken must be returned to the pocket and the opponent's cue ball pocketed counts as a point.

In eight-ball, the goal is to pocket the black eight ball. Depending on the variation of the game, the other balls are numbered 1 through nine. The player who takes a ball from his pocket wins the game.

A normal foul is penalized with a minus point. If the ball is pocketed in the course of a foul, the ball must be immediately racked. After the player has taken his next shot, he may choose to restore the position he was in before the foul. Alternatively, he may decide to keep his shot and if the opponent pockets a ball into his own pocket, the opponent will receive a point.

Another type is the ball and hand foul. This happens when a person touches the cue ball while not having their foot on the ground. Before taking a shot, the player must announce which pocketed ball he or she has. The ball must be placed as close as possible to the spot where it was caught during the foul.

Two fouls in succession must be reported to the officials before the player can take their next shot. The third foul will result is a forfeiture of the game. A player who breaks in the first innings will get a minus score equal to -10.
