
Snooker has always been viewed as a men's sport, with women players being considered inferior. However, with the recent success stories of Asian female players, women's snooker has a bright future.
In 2019, Australia held the first women’s ranking event. Nutcharut Wuthharuthai won the event. She is believed by be the first female to break 147. She was born in 1998 and is now eligible to compete on next season's professional World Snooker Tour.
Chitra Sri Krishnamurthy is another Asian woman snooker player. She was the first Indian woman to win Australian Open Snooker Championship (2008). She also won the six-red snooker championship in 2011. Her first appearance in the Eden World Ladies Senior Championships was in 2014. She reached the final of Eden World Ladies Senior Championships.

Reanne Evans is the number one female snooker player in the world. She holds ten world titles and is currently the reigning champion. In addition, she was invited to compete on the men’s tour during the 2010/11 season as a wildcard. She has also been awarded an MBE for her services to snooker.
Reanne Evans was brought up in Dudley West Midlands. She began playing pool at the age of 14 and went on to become a professional in snooker. She is also a winner of eight billiards and pool titles. She is currently the holder of the World Pool Championship title. She has also won the European Masters and is the most successful female player in the UK.
Evans was seven-and-a-half months pregnant when she won the ladies' world title in 2006. She was the first woman to reach the main stages of a ranking event. She qualified for the Wuxi Classic televised stage in China and beat Thepchaiya Uni-Nooh 5-4 in qualifying matches.
Evans has been the number one world snooker player for the past ten years. She has won ten World titles and was awarded an MBE to acknowledge her service to snooker. She has been granted a wildcard invitation for the professional tour of the 2010/11 seasons. She will be competing in the UK's final stages of the World Ranking Event. She will face Neil Robertson, the world number two.

The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association says there is no barrier for women in snooker. Currently, only two women are ranked in the top 30 of the men's world rankings. But if the next generation of female stars can challenge the world's best players, the future of women's snooker should be bright.
